Marty Smithmyer, the Founder and CEO of Americord, embarked on his journey in 2008 inspired by a deeply personal experience – the preservation of his own daughter's cord blood stem cells. Recognizing a critical gap in the field, Marty has wholeheartedly dedicated his life and career to revolutionizing cord blood banking for families nationwide. Under his leadership, Americord has emerged as a trailblazer in the field of cord blood banking, propelling the advancement of umbilical cord blood, cord tissue, and placenta tissue banking. Today, Americord proudly stands as the fastest-growing private cord blood bank in the nation, driven by Marty's unwavering commitment to excellence.  
  
Marty is a distinguished member of YPO and an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School YPO Presidents' Program. Prior to his groundbreaking work with Americord, he served as Vice President of Healthcare Investment Banking at BMO Capital Markets. Marty holds an MBA from American University and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
