Sibling Stem Cell Reimbursement

Posted by Martin Smithmyer

We’d like to help; if your baby’s cord blood is needed by a sibling we have a new policy to reimburse the money you paid to bank your baby’s cord blood stem cells with us. The sibling stem cell reimbursement will be provided to parents who have banked their cord blood with Americord and need the stem cells to treat a sibling or use the cells in a clinical trial as specified by their medical professional. We are introducing to policy to make it easier for parents to use their cells for siblings. The odds of one child’s cord blood matching a sibling is 50%. Cord blood is a preferred source of hematopoietic stem cells because it is less likely to give the recipient graft-versus-host disease. See our recent press release for more details.
